Invitation
You are most cordially invited to take part in the Second Congress of the
European Federation for Primatology (EFP). This congress will be organised
by the Czech Group of Primatologists at the Faculty of Education, Charles
University in Prague (September 3 – 7, 2007). Charles University in
Prague belongs to the oldest universities in Europe. It is the only university
in the Czech Republic where systematic education in primatology is being
traditionally given to bachelor, master and doctoral candidates. Primatological
research does not have long tradition in the Czech Republic, however, Charles
University is one of the most traditional and most important centers. The
primatological research has been co-ordinated namely at the Charles University’s
Faculty of Education, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Humanities. Primate
ethology, primate morphology and evolution, primate growth and development
and primate physiology as well as primate genetics have been the most important
topics of Czech primatologists.
The EFP is a federation of all national primatological societies and groups
in Europe. This Congress aims to step in the future by inviting also those
colleagues who are able to present anthropological topics interesting for
primatologists and thus to encourage an interdisciplinary discussion among
primatologists and anthropologists.
Prague is not only traditional scientific and educational centre but also
tourist hot spot. We therefore kindly ask you to pre-register yourselves
by returning the Registration Form as soon as possible. This will help us
to plan the Congress according to your needs as well as to generate a mailing
list serving for provision of regular updates.
The Congress will be held in the very central part of Prague where it is
easy to get by public transport. Most of the hotels in this area are expensive
but can be fully booked, especially in summer time. Therefore we recommend
you to book your accommodation as soon as possible. The Congress Organising
Committee will inform you about limited number of cheap accommodation possibilities
in the University’s hostels which are located outside of the Prague
centre, but are still easily accessible from the Congress venue (metro or
trams). The Organising Committee cannot organised accommodation in hotels,
however, upon your request we can help you with the procedure, when needed.
We hope that many of you will take this opportunity and will participate
in the Congress.
Looking forward to seeing you in Prague in 2007.
